Kvasy village is located in 17 km from Yasinya village and 15 km from Rakhiv, in the Transcarpathian region. Road from Rakhiv to Yasinya is very narrow, surrounded from all sides by the mountains and a river Tysa. The village belongs to the low-resort, situated at an altitude of 560 meters under the sea level.
The first written mention of the village Kvasy dates from 1684. The village name come from the word "leaven water", so in Hutsulia called mineral water. The village is famous for its mineral springs which waters have Arzni and Essentuki types.
Kvasy village famous for its ancient unique healing springs. Now counterparts of this "leaven" waters in the world are only in Germany (Baden-Baden spa), the French resort of La Burbul and on Sakhalin Island.
The village Kvasy is located on the toruist route to Goverla, Blyznytsia and Petros mouains. Among the attractions of the village can be noted Kvasy Museum, a wooden church of Transfiguration (Petropavlovsk), built in 1780. |
