Lviv region
Lviv region is the most convenient and easy place to go when planning the trip to the Carpathian mountains. All resorts of this region are accessible by any means of transport going from Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv. Well-known resort located in Lviv region is Slavsko ski resort (sometimes called Slavske). It is located only 120 km from Lviv on the Kyiv-Uzhhorod railroad. Perhaps this fact alone made it the most popular ski resort in Ukraine for many years. No other ski resort is so easily accessible from so many places. In addition, Slavsko has a large variety of mountains and ski slopes and has a large tourist community. There’s always lots to do. So if you have a little time to spend at the Carpathians and do not want to waste it for the transportation, then Lviv region is the best option for you.
 

Slavsko is currently the most popular Carpathian ski resort. It attracts tourists so much because of its low prices and closeness to the big Ukrainian cities. It is situated about 130 km from Lviv and it is easy to get there by train. Slavsko is very conveniently located on the Kiev-Uzhorod rail road. Its benefits - a wide range of ski runs for all levels of skiers - from beginner to professional. Note that during the weekends the resort is overcrowded. But everyone who likes meeting new friends and visiting noisy parties will be satisfied. The resort is spread out over 5 mountains: Trostian, Politekh, Pogar, Velyky Verh, Krokus. Mount Trostian is the highest and it is located at the edge of the resort. It is popular for its abundance of different runs.
 

Volosianka village located 5 km from Slavsko village that belongs to Skole district, 7 km from Slavsko station. There are several lifts on the territory of rest complex Zahar Berkut. Among them is the longest in this area pare-seat lift with the length of 2800 m and three ski lifts with the length of 700, 750 and 800 m. On the mountain there are several stations, as the Upper Station of pare-seat lift.
 

Grebeniv is a climatic resort, situated at an altitude of 500m above sea level, in 6 km from the district center of Skole. The name comes from the "ridges" of sand and stones that are made by the Opir river. The tomb of Prince Svyatoslav Volodymyrovych is located near Grebeniv village on the right bank of Opir river, behind the railway bridge . During the archaeological excavations many things and tools, remnants of weapons of XI-XII centuries were found. Architectural value has a villa 1929. The village begins to grow into a resort. There are new hotels, the old ones are being rebuilt and green tourism announces to his estates. The nearest ski lifts are located in Slavsko village, that is the next village to Grebeniv. You can get to Grebeniv from Lviv by train Lviv-Mukachevo (very comfortable carriage that has 2 classes) or by fast train Lavochne-Lviv, or by bus Lviv-Skole-Slavsko. Distance from Lviv city - 112 km.
 

Oryavchyk is located 28 km from Skole (Lviv oblast), which is on the Kiev-Uzhhorod train route. It is just 4 km from Tysovets. The slope has a base elevation of 850 m above sea level and a maximum elevation of over 1050 m. There is a tow lift all the way up the mountain and several runs down. Skiing is intermediate, with a gradual slope at the bottom that is perfect for beginners.
 

Is located in bell tower — the architectural monument of the St. Mykhaylo church (1730 y.). The collection, selected by the local priest, consists of the peasant agricultural implements, plates and dishes, looms, clothes and furniture. On the first floor there is the exhibition of icons and embroidered gonfalons.
 

Strilky is a vilage of Starosambirskyi district, it is located in the Carpathian Mountains on the bank of the Dniester River. Its population is 2375 persons (in 1921 lived approx. 1430 persons). In the southwestern part of the village (near the hamlet Mills) on the left bank of the Dniester is a hill called Zamchysche. In the distant past it was a fortress on the hill.
 

Stare selo (Old village) is really very old as its castle is the oldest in Lviv region. First memory about this village is dated back to the XIV century and the main reason why we can still observe the castle is that it has been rebuilt many times after the enemies invasions. Now there are only ruins of the castle left.
 

Vynnyky is a city in Lviv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. Population is 13,654 (2001). The city is part of Lviv-city municipality and is part of Lychakiv Raion of Lviv city. In 1925 population of the city accounted for 5000 residents out which 3300 were Polish, 2150 - Ruthenians, 350 - Jewish, and 200 - Germans.
